The Sick New World festival's 2025 edition has been abruptly cancelled, with several theories emerging about the reasons behind this decision.

The cancellation comes just six weeks after announcing an ambitious lineup that marked a significant departure from its nu-metal roots. While previous editions featured System Of A Down as headliners, the 2025 festival planned to expand into traditional metal and rock with acts like Metallica, Linkin Park, and Queens of the Stone Age.

Several factors likely contributed to the cancellation:

• Financial concerns due to expensive bookings (Metallica and Linkin Park reportedly offered $5 million each)
• Poor ticket sales (only filling one-third of the 60,000-capacity venue)
• High ticket prices ($400 for GA, up to $1,873 for VIP)
• Management changes (Jeffrey Shuman's departure from Live Nation)
• Booking complications with C3 Presents taking over

The festival's history shows strong performance in previous years, with successful runs in 2023 and 2024 featuring acts like System Of A Down, Korn, Deftones, Slipknot, and A Perfect Circle. Despite the current setback, System Of A Down's John Dolmayan has suggested the festival "will be back."
