Ticketmaster Cancels Legitimate Oasis Fan Tickets in Bot-Purchase Crackdown
Ticketmaster is facing backlash after canceling numerous tickets for Oasis' upcoming tour, including some allegedly legitimate purchases, as part of its effort to combat bot-bought tickets.

The ticketing giant recently invalidated approximately 50,000 tickets, initially targeting those resold through unauthorized platforms. The company has now expanded its efforts to cancel tickets purchased using automated software, regardless of whether they were resold.
Affected customers began receiving refund notifications via email last Friday. Ticketmaster stated that their "Expert Abuse and Fraud teams have reviewed all sales and identified any made by bots," though they declined to share specific detection methods to prevent exploitation by scalpers.
Several fans have reported having their legitimate tickets canceled despite following proper purchase procedures. One affected customer wrote on X: "Not only am I losing my @oasis tickets, I'm also in danger of being reported to law enforcement??? wtf? I didn't do anything other than buy my tickets for me & my friend during presale??"
Ticketmaster has confirmed that:
- All canceled tickets will be refunded
- Barcodes on refunded tickets will be voided
- Canceled tickets will be resold at face value
- Investigation results will be shared with law enforcement
- Affected customers can appeal through a provided form
This situation follows other controversies surrounding the tour, including:
- Extremely high ticket prices
- A CMA investigation into Ticketmaster
- A proposed U.K. government cap on ticket resale prices
Customers who believe their tickets were wrongly canceled can submit an appeal form for review by the tour's promoters.
